Hey, Pittsburghers! I recently found out about Pittsburgh Vintage Mixer, a vintage and vintage-inspired fair that’s going to be held on July 29 at The New Hazlett Theater in the North Side. It’s going to be great so make sure you check it out!

New price reductions in my shop! $10 vintage belts and dresses!

The title pretty much says it all. :)

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted… hope you all are doing well!

Have you heard about Wanelo? It’s a site like Pinterest, but specifically for products. If you’re on there or are interested in joining, please follow me and I’ll follow you back! (Thanks in advance to those of you who do!)

Just listed another original work of art I created for Pittsburgh’s SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day 2012. This was displayed in the New Hazlett Theater on March 15 and 16.

Link! Shipping is free in the U.S.!

Someone sent me a message today via my ArtFire shop about this brand new site for buying/selling vintage called RETROphoria. Looks great, but there aren’t too many listings yet. Bookmark it if you like vintage!

All Art Requires Courage

I participated in Pittsburgh’s SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day 2012 and gathered my inspiration for this piece from interview footage of women talking about living fearlessly, moving forward and making progress. The hardest part to creating art for me is getting started… not brainstorming and planning out a piece, but getting to that first brushstroke or pen line. A friend mentioned to me that procrastination is more or less the result of a perfectionist drive. There is some anxiety and even pressure that a work will not turn out as planned, that it will fail. With every new piece I create I may end up disappointing myself because I won’t like what I’ve created or perhaps worse yet, others will judge my work in a negative way. This brings me to a valuable bit of advice I picked up from the SWAN Day footage: “Not everyone’s going to like you.” I think this can definitely be applied to art as well. There is no way to please everyone. All I can do is do my best, do what makes me happy and try to grow a thicker skin.

This painting is listed here. Thanks for looking!

Check out this album of great vintage Girl Scout photos. :)

I listed some new vintage Artista Binney & Smith (Crayola) watercolor sets today. They work great! (No complaints from my son haha… he has his own set. He is also responsible for the magnificent background painting by the way. :))
